DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin recently made a controversial statement about Trisha, a close friend of CM Vijay. Regarding this, the CM today indirectly stated that he does not engage in petty politics.
The dispute over Cauvery River water continues between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani stated that he is committed to resolving the Cauvery issue legally and there is no change in that.
The CM also indirectly responded to Leader of the Opposition Udhayanidhi Stalin’s controversial statement. He said, “I don’t want to indulge in petty politics.” Stalin recently delivered a speech in Thanjavur on the Cauvery issue. As the crowd chanted “Trisha, Trisha,” he made an obscene and double-meaning remark.
This statement drew widespread criticism from TVK and BJP leaders. Based on the complaint, police subsequently detained and questioned Udhayanidhi Stalin. However, he was released following a High Court order.
What did CM Vijay say?
The CM said, “I thought about going to Bengaluru and trying to resolve the issue. I thought about holding talks with the neighboring state, because even sworn enemies hold talks to resolve issues.”
“I was even ready to face humiliation in trying to negotiate the Cauvery issue for the people of Tamil Nadu,” he said. Quoting the late Congress leader, Vijay said the Cauvery issue needed to be handled with utmost care and sensitivity.
Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have long been locked in a dispute over the sharing of Cauvery River water. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister promised to resolve the issue during the assembly elections.
Udhayanidhi Stalin surrounded
According to news agency ANI, DMK MLA Udhayanidhi Stalin said, “Karnataka is eager to build the Mekedatu Dam. The Karnataka government is moving forward on this issue. Like the Karnataka government, we too must demonstrate our unity against the construction of the Mekedatu Dam. All political parties in Tamil Nadu are demanding the government convene an all-party meeting on the Mekedatu Dam issue. Everyone is asking why the Tamil Nadu government is avoiding convening an all-party meeting on this matter.”
He said, “The Tamil Nadu Agriculture Minister said that Chief Minister Vijay would visit Karnataka, while another minister said the matter was still under consideration. Later, the Karnataka Chief Minister said that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister should not come to Karnataka. Will you call an all-party meeting or not? Will the Chief Minister plan to visit Karnataka or not? In your election promises, you said that farmers’ loans would be waived. If you say you need more time, you should clarify how much time it will take.”
