Never take Ibuprofen with these medicines, otherwise your kidneys will rot

Researchers used computer simulations to find that when these two medicines are taken along with ibuprofen, some individuals may develop acute kidney injury. This is a serious condition.

Ibuprofen is the most widely consumed pain and fever medicine in the world, which is cheap and effective and was considered safe till now. However, in the last few years, there has been a debate on its side effects, after which medical experts and doctors have warned some people to avoid it completely, as it can cause serious harm to them.

A new research from Waterloo University has also given a similar warning that using ibuprofen with some high blood pressure medicines can damage the kidneys. This is special information for those people who also take painkillers along with their BP medicines.

The risk of triple whammy increases

According to research, many people suffering from high blood pressure take two types of medicines. The first is diuretics, which help in removing extra water from the body and renin-angiotensin system inhibitors, which relax the blood vessels. Often both these medicines are used together.

Researchers used computer simulations to find that when these two medicines are taken along with ibuprofen, some individuals may develop acute kidney injury. This is a serious condition in which the kidney suddenly stops working properly and in some cases the damage can be permanent. This is called the triple whammy effect because each medicine affects kidney function and their combination puts a lot of pressure on the kidneys, especially when there is also dehydration.

They should be careful

However, not everyone will have this problem, but some people are at a higher risk. Especially those who already have kidney problems or other health issues should be more careful.

You can use acetaminophen

The research team led by Dr. Anita Layton is motivating people to understand that over-the-counter medicines can also react with prescription medicines. If you take blood pressure medicine and need a medicine for pain, it is advisable to use acetaminophen instead of ibuprofen, as it does not have as much harmful effect on the kidneys.

In such a situation, it is always best to consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking any new medicine, even a simple painkiller. This research is an important reminder that mixing medicines can sometimes be harmful. Being careful will keep your kidneys safe and your treatment will remain safe and effective.
